Nokia (NOK) Revises Sales Forecasts Down, Again
Nokia (NOK) can't keep up with the falling demand for cellular handsets. It cuts its forecasts for Q4 and 2009 again. That is probably not good new for Motorola (MOT), Samsung, RIM (RIMM), or even Apple (AAPL) iPhone sales. Nokia Moves Closer to an Open Source Platform
Nokia has taken a critical step toward creating an open-source wireless environment, terming the closing of its deal to Symbian a “fundamental step” in creating the Symbian Foundation. The Symbian Foundation is a cross-industry collaboration that will use Symbian’s open software to rival Google’s Android and the LiMo Foundation’s possess Linux operating systems. Well, it could be said that Apple has managed to receive itself into a mess over the past couple of days. At long last Apple is officially allowing developers the right to issue “promotional” copies of applications free of charge to beneficiaries. Developers had previously found it difficult to apportion promotional copies of applications, having to opt for Ad-hoc distribution or gift certificate issuance. Apple to allow developers to issue free promotional copies of software
It looks like someone at Apple finally got the message. Developers can reportedly now offer a free promotional code that allows prospective buyers and/or reviewers to download a full copy of a software title from the App Store. Each software title entering the App Store will receive 50 promotional codes that will reset when each subsequent version is released. Codes can also be issued for existing software and the folks over at MacRumors reportedly obtained a code and downloaded a free version of
